Vital Restoration Bodywork Therapies

Meet your practitioner
You have two homes: The Earth and your body. Take Care of them both.
You might have heard the statistic that research shows over 60% of adults experience some kind of low back pain during the course of their lifetime. But it doesn't need to be that way.
I specialize in working with clients who experience chronic tension or pain throughout the body. Often the culprit is a soft tissue imbalance brought on by an old injury, poor posture, and extended periods time sitting in one position. Luckily these things can be stabilized, retrained and healed to work with you instead of against you.
Your body craves balance, functions more efficiently with less pain and moves with ease when properly aligned in a neutral position. With that in mind we use a combination of manual manipulation, deep breathing techniques and corrective movements to help relax tired, overstressed muscles and connective tissues that are pulling bones out of alignment to bring them back to a more natural, healthy and flexible state.
You'll be surprised how quickly we can work together to make measurable improvements. I look forward to working with you soon.

What to expect during your session…
When you visit a professional massage therapy clinic, you can expect a structured and personalized approach to your care. Here’s a step-by-step guide to what you’ll experience during your treatment:
Before the Massage:
-
Arrival and Intake: When you arrive, you may be asked to fill out a short intake form. This typically includes questions about your health history, any areas of discomfort, and specific preferences or goals for your massage.
-
Consultation: Your therapist will discuss any areas you’d like to focus on, as well as the type of pressure you prefer (light, medium, or firm). Be sure to communicate any injuries or specific concerns, so they can tailor the session to meet your needs.
Wear Comfortable, Loose Clothing
-
For a Swedish or Relaxation Massage: You don’t need to wear tight-fitting clothes. Loose, breathable clothing such as yoga pants, shorts, or a loose shirt are ideal for wearing before you undress for your massage.
-
For a Deep Tissue or Sports Massage: You might want to wear something more flexible, like athletic wear, that will allow your therapist to access your muscles more easily without restrictions.
Undress to Your Comfort Level
-
Massage Therapists Are Trained for Modesty: During the session, you’ll typically be draped with a sheet or towel to maintain your privacy. You can undress completely or leave on
During the Massage:
-
Throughout the session, your therapist will use various techniques such as Swedish, deep tissue, or sports massage, depending on your preferences. You'll be asked to lie on a massage table, where you’ll be draped with a sheet or towel for privacy, with only the areas being worked on exposed.
-
During your massage session, it's important to remember that this time is for you to relax and unwind. Your massage therapist is a trained professional, dedicated to providing you with the best possible experience. Trust in their expertise to guide you through the session, ensuring you receive the care and attention your body needs.
-
As you settle into the treatment, let go of any tension or concerns, knowing you're in good hands. Allow the therapist to adjust pressure, technique, and focus areas based on your comfort level. It’s common to feel the urge to micromanage the experience, but truly relaxing involves letting go and allowing the therapist to work with your body’s needs.
-
If at any point something feels uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to communicate, but otherwise, trust that the therapist is there to help your body release stress and promote healing. This is your time to take a break from the demands of daily life—let the massage be a chance for you to simply be present, breathe deeply, and allow your body to receive the therapeutic benefits.
After the massage you may experience:
Relaxation and Relief
-
Immediate relaxation: Many people feel deeply relaxed and calm right after a massage due to the release of tension in muscles and the production of endorphins (the body's natural "feel-good" chemicals). This can be especially noticeable if you’ve been feeling stressed or tense.
-
Improved mood: The calming effects of a massage can elevate your mood and provide a sense of well-being, leaving you feeling mentally lighter.
-
Soreness or Tenderness
-
Mild muscle soreness: It's common to experience some soreness or tenderness in the areas that were worked on, especially if deep pressure or specific techniques like deep tissue massage were used. This is typically a temporary reaction to the manipulation of the muscles.
-
Feeling of "good pain": The soreness might feel similar to after a good workout, but should fade within a day or two.
-
Hydration is Important
-
Increased water intake: Since massage helps release toxins and waste products stored in your muscles, it’s important to drink plenty of water afterward to help flush those out and avoid dehydration, which can make soreness worse.
-
Improved Range of Motion
-
Better flexibility: If you had tight or stiff muscles before your massage, you may notice an improvement in your range of motion, flexibility, or posture. This can be especially noticeable if the massage targeted your neck, shoulders, or back.
-
Fatigue
-
Possible fatigue: Some people feel a bit tired or sleepy after a massage, as the body is in a deeply relaxed state. If this happens, it’s perfectly normal, and you may just want to take it easy for the rest of the day.
-
Emotional Release
-
Emotional effects: Occasionally, the release of physical tension can bring out emotional responses. Some people may feel more emotional, teary, or even euphoric. This is part of the body's process of letting go of built-up stress.
-
Lingering Effects
-
Temporary discomfort: For a day or two after a massage, you might feel slightly "off" or have a lingering mild discomfort, especially if your muscles were particularly tight or the pressure was deep. This is typically temporary and should resolve within 24 to 48 hours.
-
Skin Sensitivity
-
Possible skin sensitivity: If you had oil or lotion applied to your skin, you might feel a little greasy or have sensitivity. If the therapist used strong pressure or certain techniques (like cupping or scraping), your skin might feel sensitive or even develop minor bruising. This usually fades in a couple of days.
-
Long-term Benefits
-
Ongoing relaxation: The benefits of the massage may continue to unfold over the next day or two as your muscles and tissues fully adjust.
-
Reduced stress: Regular massages can contribute to long-term improvements in stress levels, posture, and muscle health.
Tips for Aftercare:
-
Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to reduce soreness and rehydrate your tissues.
-
Avoid strenuous activity: It's best to take it easy for a while after a massage to allow your body to fully relax and recover.
-
Gentle stretching: If your muscles feel tight, gentle stretching can help maintain flexibility and prevent stiffness.
-
If any discomfort or soreness lasts for more than a few days, or if you experience unusual symptoms, it’s a good idea to contact the massage therapist or a healthcare professional to make sure everything is okay.
